The objects in our collections bear witness to the long and rich history of Portuguese Jews. They provide research opportunities, enlighten and inspire through the multiple stories and narratives they contain.

Our collections currently comprise around 700 objects. Predominantly donated by private donors, these include drawings, documentary collections, photographs, engravings, objects of religious use (Jewish), books, everyday objects, paintings and textiles.
Our collections illustrate Jewish history and culture in Portugal over the centuries. They are a repository of memories that should be disseminated for a more comprehensive understanding of Portugal’s history, highlighting diverse narratives and contributions of its Jewish community.
DONORS
A significant part of our collections is family collections, consisting of various objects: documents, photographs, books, which bear witness to Jewish life, and others. These collections, entrusted to the Museum by a family member, offer a unique glimpse into their lives and are a rich source of information about customs, traditions and historical events.
When donated to the Museum, they are preserved and researched, ensuring that family histories and legacies are safeguarded to be disseminated and valued by future generations.
